this week we're on vacation in a town we have been going for many years, and there's a lovely thrift store that i've gotten so many wonderful things over the years. so of course, i made a trip to the thrift store. but this time around, i have to say, it was hard to find anything that really spoke to me. no real hidden gems for me today. and that's okay. i just kept thinking, "recession indicator" everywhere. everyone is holding on to their stuff. or the good stuff gets swiped quickly. tbf, i went to the thrift store about an hour before closing time and it was the first day of the week that it was open, so it's likely many people came and found things well before i got there.
anyway, what i did find was interesting. this dvd of efteling, a theme park in the netherlands i've been interested in for a couple years. i thought the dvd would be something like a documentary about the park... history, etc. but instead it was basially like a promo video with no actual narrative. it was weird. i kinda get why someone donated it. but i also don't want to donate it myself, like i feel like it's a weird artifact that i want to keep. but it's also literally useless. was it originally sent out to potential investors? or?? it was released in 2003. was it in their giftshops?? surely if it was, there would've been many disappointed people who grabbed the dvd thinking it was like some cool video on the history lol.
the dvd is called De Magische Bol and i found a wiki article on it here. apparently it cost like $20! for 2003 money that's a ton!
